Its no secret how much I adore the Birds of a Feather kits. It was truly a pleasure to be a guest designer and play with the September kit. Come on over to the blog to see just how much fun I had with it.
I am up on the Indigo Blu blog today, come on over and see what I did with paint and stamps and whole lot of fussy cutting to create a beautiful layout showing a part of our incredible trip to Scrap Addicts in Canada last year.
Ok, I have had my planner for almost 2 weeks and I am loving every bit of it. It is just the right size and set up perfectly to what works for me. I took some photos from my Virgnia City trip and printed them on sticker backed paper to add to the pages.
I just found out that Me & My Big Ideas is having a design team call....am definetly going to put in for the planner team! That would be amazingly fun to share this with you. If you are interested in getting one head on over to www.meandmybigideas.com and get one right away.
Here are some shots of the photos I added and how it is looking:
Photos of Virginia City trip on the weekend spots. How fun is this?
Working on next week....
Lets not forget all the pens you have to have too! What a shame, since I have a PEN FETISH!
The one that I purchased is called "My Life" to check out a cool video on the insides go to https://vimeo.com/121184167 it is $28.00 which is a great price. I have paid more than that for worthless planners from Staples.
I also purchased the pockets so I could have somewhere for my stickers
and of course some properly sized stickers that fit the calendar perfectly:
This is not even all filled in yet...
I also got some stickers from some fun etsy sellers that I linked up in a previous blog post.
Since being on the day planner craze, although I started many years ago with planners, I havent prettied them up like I do now, so I am always searching for fun and free printables. I thought I would compile a list here for my readers, just in case.
These are ones that I have personally downloaded or tried.
Of course I have now ordered the Mambi planner from Me & My Big Ideas, so I downloaded and have ready the available printables that they have available on their site.

Do you remember that facebook post that went around that said the first 5 commenters will get a gift sometime in the next year? Well, its been almost a year so I figure I better get my arse in gear. Plus any excuse to pull out my Canvas Corp paints is a good reason to get to it!
I got this adorable pin cushion wood craft kit from Adornit along with some yummy fabric goodness. I could not help myself to create this for one of the facebook friends that commented that is a quilter.
I apologize for being forgetful in posting to my blog. Like so many I post everyday to my FACEBOOK page but forget to put it on my blog as well.....I will do better!
One of the things that will help me to remember is adding post reminders in my planner. Now I know there is new craze with planners but I have been using them faithfully for years. I just didnt make them look pretty, I write in the important stuff with a regular ballpoint pen and that is about it.
But I have joined in on the latest craze of making my planner pretty. I have even ordered several sticker sets on Etsy and trying out a new monthly planner kit with Christy Tomlinson and tried a few free online printables. However, the hardest part is finding the right planner. I have bought a few, used it for a week or so and have not been really happy. MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN. I am continuing on with what I have until I figure out what I want. There are so many different ones out, but most are too small, have pages I dont need and so forth.
This is my simple planner from Staples, but is not very enticing and I havent got all my pretties yet in the mail to fancy it up. But its a start!
I am a monthly planner, I need to see the whole month. I need to be able to write things in it and now to draw and add stickers, etc. I dont really use the weekly part and feel like its a bunch of bulk I dont need. Unless someone can make it so its vertical instead of big blocks.
I have spent weeks searching for a planner that fits my style and needs....lo and behold...I think I found it. I ORDERED IT! Fingers crossed.
I am new to Art Journaling, well in the way that everyone is doing it these days in actual journals. I made a commitment to work in a journal after spending time with Cori Lynn in Canada. Guess what I am on PAGE TWO...lol.
I used some vintage music sheets and patterns, along with paints and sprays from Tattered Angels of Canvas Corp Brands and then went a little wild with some awesome Indigoblu Stamps along with hand writing and just plain fun stuff.
I had so much fun creating this Christmas tree with the new Cleary Indigoblu Big Holly Stamp. Learn how to make this project for your holiday table by visiting the Indigoblu blog at http://www.indigoblu.com/blog/2015/07/stamping-a-three-dimensional-christmas-tree/
This is a different day for me, where as a mother that has children that have a father that is not around I have to be dad as well as mom. It reminds me of how time flies. I was able to muster up a little time in the studio today to work on my first page of my larger journal, I know...dont fall over. In this journal, I will be recording quotes that I love and have a meaning and create pages around it. I have discovered that I need new pens, mine are nearly dried up.
First, I started with putting down Tattered Angels Shimmer and Chalkboard Spray, creating many layers of matching colors in the red and orange color range.
Then grabbed a template to lay down as the background. Used spray to highlight the stencil.
I added a second stencil to create the clock and bee, then outlined the gesso'd areas. I added Tattered Angels High Impact Paint to color in the clock numeral letters. Filled in other areas with TA glaze. The pen and inked edges are with Imagine Crafts pen and ink.
To finish it off, I added my brand new dandelion stamp from IndigoBlu. I love dandelions, they remind me of some great childhood memories.
I really am enjoying my new journal journey, it is a great way to do pieces of art a little at a time.
