May Arts and CardMaker Blog Hop-Get Ready to be Inspired!

Hop along with us to see all the wonderful projects created by many talented artists that have joined in on the CardMaker & May Arts blog hop.  I decided to take a little twist on the Valentines theme and remember those that have taken the time to mend our hearts when they are broken.

I used the twine to create the heart and a fun little piece of burlap that acts as a patch fixing the broken heart.  I really love the way it turned out.

I am so excited to share this finally!

I got the opportunity to make a few projects for an incredible spread in the latest issue of Australian Simply Cards from Practical Publishing Australia. When I spent time in Australia last August I really fell in love with the area and all the wonderful people I met.  So this article really means alot to me!

Pressing Flowers with your Spellbinders Grand Calibur

I love being a part of the Spellbinders team and coming up with cool ways to use not only the dies but the Grand Calibur machine itself.  This week I was challenged to find some way of using the Grand Calibur in a new way...well lets see how well it presses flowers I thought.

CHA Summer 2012 Workshop Sneak Peek! Only 3 More Weeks!

It is almost time for the Summer CHA Show in Chicago, Illinois and I am excited about teaching a full 2.5 hour workshop with such wonderful sponsors and creating an out of box, tear it down, build it up, put it on the wall CREATION!

Burlap Tree with May Arts and Sweet Stamp Shop

This was a fun card to make, featured today at the May Arts Blog! I had a little fun with their burlap twine, here are a couple of photos and head over the blog to see how I created it.

Not sure what to do with that stash of ribbon? Lets play!

It's time for a quick tutorial. 

I have this beautiful stash of May Arts ribbon here that has been screaming my name and some fun Loralie Design stamps and could not resist playing with them together.  This is what happens when I have some idle time to just play!  Yes, every once in awhile I get a few minutes to just play....

Supplies you will need:

Loralie Design Stamps
Glue Arts Perma Tac Adhesive
Kraft Paper
May Arts Ribbon- a variety
Tim Holtz stapler
Markers
Bling- I used Flourish with a Bling product

Cut a piece of Kraft paper into a long triangle.  This will be the dress bottom.  Cover the paper with adhesive.  Ink and stamp the top on kraft paper.

 
Heavier ribbon: fold and staple to keep its shape.  If it is a soft ribbon, fold and add on top of the adhesive, as shown below:

 
This gives such a luxurious look to the dress. I love the soft look.

 
Keep layering the ribbons, some folded, some flat to give it some fun layers.

 
Flip over and trim the ribbon close to the paper.

 
Color in the top stamped piece, check to see if it fits on the dress bottom. Trim if necessary.

 
 
Add some accents, here I used bling from Flourish With A Bling, a brand new Australian company.

 
Attach the top to the bottom and you are ready to add this fun piece to a card or layout!
