Etchall Etching-Fairy Jar with Katelynn

When I create etching classes, I don't normally think of children attending but this mom wanted to give it a try.  So glad we did, there were adults at the workshop too but I just had to share this amazing girl and her fairy jar with you.  

Our workshop was one of our monthly Sip & Art Classes.  We etch one day each month, sometimes its pint and wine glasses, but I wanted something different that all ages and skill level could do and have fun with.  So it was a Mason Fairy Jar for this one, with lots of goodies to add it such as Colorique paints, lace, peat moss and more.

 

So lets get started...first we need to get our fairy sticker ready to put on the glass.  Then soak it in the Etchall Dip n Etch.

 

After soaking the jar in the Etchall Dip n Etch, we removed the fairy sticker.

Now for painting the lid and adding the fun stuff to the jar...

 

Just the finishing touches, a bit of lace ribbon, peat moss and battery operated light for the inside, so it lights up in her room at night.

Oil & Vinegar Etched Bottles with Etchall Dip n' Etch

Cutting machines in home decor is all the rage right now, but what if you cant afford one but want to join in doing some of these fun projects.  Well, with etching you can do it with letter stickers!  I dug through my scrapbooking stash and found these stickers, although flat ones would work better I am using what I had for this tutorial.  

Etching is super easy and gives such amazing results, once you try it you will be hooked, I guarantee it!  Nothing will be safe in your home again!

 

Here are the completed bottles, although the etched lettering is hard to see, there is a closeup in the next photo.  It is easily seen in person, just hard to get on camera.

Using your letters, adhere them to the oil and vinegar bottles.  Be sure to press them down really well.  You do not want the liquid penetrating behind the letters.

Once you have the letters in place, tape off the top really well to create the line at the top.  I used a soft drink cup that I had on hand, nothing fancy is needed to create etching projects.

I placed the bottle into the cup and added the Dip n' Etch until it covers just past the taped portion.  I placed a heavy book on top to hold it down into the water, for 15 minutes.  Take the spouts off before putting the book or other heavy item on top.

After 15 minutes, pull the bottle out, take the tape and letters off of the bottle.  Rinse in the sink well.  Then using a paper towel wipe off and dry the bottle very well. Use several paper towels to bring up the frosted look.

Repeat for the other bottle, once you have them both dry you have a set of etched Oil & Vinegar bottles for your kitchen.

Etching Your Heart Out. Local Sip & Art Workshop at Double Taps. Grants Pass, Oregon.

  

 

It has been a dream for awhile to teach workshops locally, I kept talking about it all that time, however, recently I got tired of hearing even myself talk about it, and I made a pact to make it happen. I have the amazing opportunity to work with so many amazing companies that there is no reason to keep talking about, time to just do something about it.  And loyalty to so many companies has paid off.  I want nothing more than to share this with others. 

Some months ago, I had a new to town, local business owner stop in my store.  We got to chatting and soon realized that his little craft brewpub would be a great fit for my recent endeavor.   I was intrigued by the recent trend of Wine & Brush workshops that are a glass of wine (or beer) and you all paint on canvas together.  I am not a painter, although I have attended a number of great local classes, I was thinking out of the box.  There has to be a fun, creative way to have monthly workshops that include more artsy projects to create.  Small groups so I can give an incredible amount of one on one time!

Cue...Sip & Art...a monthly creative release!

 

For our very first Sip & Art workshop, we paid homage to Double Taps Craft Brews and set up an amazing PINT GLASS etching workshop.  We had some special guests, a local private vineyard sent in a crew to learn how to etch their private wine bottles.  How about that for our first time?  
We use the amazing Etchall® product line for professional results that are so easy that I tell everyone that once you go Etchall, there's no glass in your home that is Safe after all!  lol.   Let me share the amazing etching that our students did in our very first workshop.

 

  

 

Etching glass is incredibly easy, simply attach your pre-cut vinyl sticker to the glasses, add the Etchall Etching Creme, let it sit for 15 minutes.  Scrape off any excess and put back into the container, it is completely reusable.  Remove the vinyl sticker and wash off the excess creme.  Dry it off and your design will shine!!

DCC Blog Hop: Etching Glass with StencilGirl and Etchall

 DID YOU SAY MIXED MEDIA MIRROR?

 

This month we are hopping with two incredible companies, Stencil Girl and Etchall.  We have so much inspiration in this hop, you will need to sit down and hop around for three entire days to see it all!  I could not resist using one of Seth Apter's mixed media stencils to create this cool  mixed media mirror for my studio.  We have three days of hopping and large group of designers that are participating, be sure to scroll down for links and giveaway information!

 

 

I love stencils that are unique and organic in style and offer a different look on many surfaces. 
I chose a stencil from Seth Apter that had a wide variety of images, words, and textures to play with. 

First, we clean the mirror that we are using for this project.  Place the stencil on the surface, move around until you find the exact location that you like. Using the Etchall Stencil Spray, cover the back side of the stencil conpletely. Let dry,  then apply to the mirror. 

 

 

Once you have your stencil in place, apply the Etchall Etching Creme liberally over the surface using a credit card.  Be sure to cover all areas that are open on the mirror.  

 

Let sit for 15 minutes remove the stencil.  Rinse under water and wash with soap and dry well.  Your stenciled image will be etched in the mirror.

Etchall Etching: Cute Dollar Store Button Jars

February is PURGE and CLEAN month in my life...and I am so ready to organize my craft spaces.  Yes, SPACES....yikes!  I picked up these super cute clear jars with silver lids and knew that I would dip these babies in Etchall Dip n' Etch to make them frosted.  I adore this look.  Think about all the things you can etch with this.

To get started, just clean your jars with soap and water and dry well.
Following the instructions on the Etchall container to fill up another container with the Etchall.  Dip one jar at a time for 15 minutes, wash off and dry.  Then the second one.  

Now its time to paint the metal lid, Colorique is made for use with metal and gave it a wonderful full coat of vibrant color.

Add the lids to the etch dipped jars, using a sharpie write what the container is for and you have two beautiful button jars:




I then used Colorique, paint for metal to paint the silver lids black to go with my decor.

In just over a half hour I had two beautiful matching containers.

Etchall: Creating Fall Pieces For Your Holiday Table

This month is all about holiday decor.  All my littles are grown and out of the house and only have a few close family members so Thanksgiving is a little different.  But I still try to do some decorating for the fall season, since it's my favorite time of the year and colors.   With Etchall Dip n' Etch nothing is safe in my home...I got these fall glasses at the dollar store but wanted to gussy it up a bit.  Check out how simple this is and what an incredible difference it made...

Look at the beautiful etching on the top and bottom of the glasses. 
It really is as simple as using blue tape to mask off the middle printed area and hold the glass in the etching liquid for 15 minutes.

Fall Decor with Etchall® Dip n' Etch

I was really excited to receive the Etchall® Dip n' Etch as my mind was racing with what I could do with it.  I perused our local dollar store and found some super cute bottles and wanted to make them into Fall decor for the table.  They were a perfect match for this product. The Dip n' Etch is so amazingly easy that I kind of felt guilty.  I felt like it should be harder to get this amazing finish, but I quickly stopped complaining.

  I etched these two bottles 2/3 of the way and then added canvas, flowers, and embellies to give it a fall look.

 

I apologize for the bit darker than normal photographs but I did the main etching at home, I wanted my family to see what I was making.  There are not very many steps to this as it is so very easy to do but I wanted to share this.  Gather your supplies.  Read the instructions on the Etchall product container.

 

I poured the correct amount of Dip n' Etch liquid and dipped it into the container as instructed.  Held it there for 15 minutes, I put a heavy object on top to keep the bottle from rising out of the liquid.

And this was the amazing result:




Once I was able to get back in the studio, I cut strips of a Canvas Corp Brands canvas sheet, added May Arts Jute Ribbon, and some beautiful Prima flowers and beads to complete the look.

When I took these bottles out to take photos, I was amazed how the blended in with the Fall Foliage, you can barely see them.

National Craft Month Etchall Blog Hop - Designer Craft Connection

It's NATIONAL CRAFT MONTH and this month we are playing with Etchall® Etching Creme.  I have to admit I have always admired "etching" and I am sure that I have even had the product at some point in my crafting career but never found the time to try.  This is because I believed it was a two or three step process and I just don't have the patience for it.  So I jumped at the chance to work with Etchall® in this blog hop so I could see what it was all about.

Well let me tell you, it was so simple that I feel extremely silly now thinking back on how hard I thought it would be.  So when I thought about what I would use it on, I had the chance to work with a brand new local candle company that uses liquor bottles and cut them to make candle holders.  They create their own candles with waxes and essential oils. They are not quite ready to launch but thought that the etching would be an incredible addition to the bottles.  So we played...

I also did a larger piece of glass and then the mirror coaster that came with the package, just to show you different ways that we played with it.

Scents Be Wicked is the name of the little startup...so here we added their name and logo to a bottle, then added the twine wrap.

 

Here we worked on covering a larger surface and leaving the negative side exposed and see thru.

And the fun little mirror that came with the kit of product to use.  It was super easy and cute!
