A little history and fun... I have been in the crafting industry since 2009. Most know that this journey started with my first show in Craft & Hobby Association show in 2009 in Anaheim, California where I took my very first paper dress form by the Graphic45 booth and they asked to leave it there.  Well, the rest is history!

My story and all the dress forms that I have made every single year for them will be posted on their blog in a little over a week, I will give the date and official announcement shortly. In preparation the research of finding all the photos, which shows, which locations have taken days and days to put together. I have dug deep into the computer archives. Along the way, I have found some fun projects from back when I started both with Graphic45 and other great companies.  I thought I would post them here first to show you where I began and to hopefully inspire you to keep creating no matter what!

These projects are all from the 2009-2010 era, so they go way back.  It was fun to see what I did so many years ago.  I am still crafting my style, and I am proud of all that I have accomplished in this time, but the best part is all the amazing people that I have in my life because of crafting.  Thank you so much for following me and encouraging me.  Some of you have been with me since the beginning, and for that I humbly thank you!

Canvas Corp: {A Vintage Girl} ATC Love

I adore doing Artist Trading Cards, they are great for a little spurt of creativity and to use up those scraps laying around.

A little history on ATCS:

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist Trading Cards are 2 ¹⁄₂ by 3 ¹⁄₂ inches (64 mm × 89 mm) in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance.

 

I made a set of three vintage inspired cards using Canvas Corp burlap and papers, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Chalkboard sprays, 7Gypsies ephemera and bits of May Arts Ribbon and Prima flowers all held together with the amazing Beacon Adhesives Fabri Tac.  

 

 

Graphic45 Design Team 2013 Audition

I have been waiting for this design team call for a couple of years..... its time to throw my hat back into the ring!  I feel like I have been off to college and ready to come home...lol!

I had a blast making a couple new projects with the latest releases for this post along with projects that I have made in the past!  I am currently working on a full size dress for the upcoming Summer CHA show in Las Vegas!  Excited about that, keep an eye out on the blog for updates!

I used an entire package of 3D Foam Squares on this one!

Did you see the blog hop with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Graphic45?  I could not resist using an ENTIRE PACKAGE of 3D Foam Squares on this layout.  That's kind of how I roll, or should I say STICK!

So I have a little confession to make.  I am in the middle of moving and have to move from a very large studio to a small bedroom, this is temporary while we wait for escrow to close on our house.  This is temporary but nonetheless, there are deadlines for projects.  I was sitting in my room with boxes all around me, and could barely find the basics.  Scissors, paper, adhesive, distress ink, blending tool and pen.  

After some searching, and a big mess, I gathered the basics.  That is all that I had to work with.  If you know me, you know that I dont use many embellishments unless I can make them out of paper. 

Using the new Graphic45 ABC Primer collection, beautiful May Arts ribbon, laser cut fence from Imaginarium Designs, twine, distress ink and blender, copic pen and nothing else...I created a little story:

 

 

I wanted a sewn look but of course, do not know where the sewing machine is at this moment so I resorted to some twine carefully tied around the cut and dimensional frame.  Then topped it with a tag.

The fence actually sits off the page an inch and is held with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, 3D Foam Squares.

Houston, Texas here we come....Collins Group Trade Show!

October 14-17th, 2011. Collins Group Trade Show

Store Owners: Come on out to the Collins Group Fall Workshop in Houston next month.  I will be doing a fun workshop using Basically Bare's mixed media album and embellishments along with the "Magic of Oz" collection from Graphic 45, May Arts, The Rubber Cafe, Ranger and Glue Arts.

We will be helping dorothy follow the yellow brick road....and get her home with this fun mixed media album, sunshine and clouds embellishments along with hot air balloon and heart locket from Basically Bare.  

This is an exclusive workshop built for craft store owners for use as classes.  We look forward to meeting those that are attending.  We have special "goodie" bags for our attendees.

A piece of mixed media up for auction at eBAY for CHARITY!

At CHA I was asked to participate along with 19 other fabulous designers to create a mixed media project using Duck Brand Duck Tape, Velcro and Westcott scissors.  I happened to have one 18" tall paper mache bust left so I got to work.  This event was for Charity Wings to raise funds and is now on eBay with only a few days left to bid!  Help me to raise money!

This beauty is layers upon layers of mixed mediums, gesso, paint, perfect pearls, more gesso, more paint from Ranger...lasercut gears from Imaginarium Designs.  A full duck tape corset that can be removed at the velcro seam that weighs in at a couple of pounds laced up with May Arts ribbon plus a bit of stamping with the Steampunk Stamps from The Rubber Cafe.  She stands 18 inches tall and is built to display for years to come!

More from Australia...

My crafting tour has been a blur and whirlwind of great people and places...I am beyond exhausted but so happy to have gone to so many great places and meet some of the most fabulous people along the way!

You have all inspired me far more than anything I did for you!  So I finally got a little down time to work on some photos and post here on the blog...so sorry it has taken so long.  I have one more day of back to back workshops and then I am heading back to the US!

This last week we had workshops in Victoria, with the first stop being HobbySew in Echuca.  Karen and Helen came to pick us up at the airport and the poor girls had to hang out waiting for over 5 hours for us, our flight was cancelled and rescheduled.  These ladies had already driven nearly 3 hours to pick us up.  Then they finally got us at 9:30pm and still had the 3 hour drive to their house.  Thank you so very much you two for your infinite patience!

While I was at the workshops my husband got a chance to boat down the Murray river (spelled wrong I am sure):

Karen and Helen took us back to St. Kilda to spend the rest of the week there with the other stores.  However, on the way out they were kind enough to stop in the little historical town so we can take photos:

Then off to St. Kilda and we hit our hotel room and literally threw all our luggage in the room and turned around to head down to the ocean and pier:

CHA Recap...Projects, People and Basically Bare

Sorry for the delay in sharing the FEW photos that I took at CHA.  You just get so busy that you forget to take the camera out, however, I did catch a few photos that highlight projects that I created for booths, some people I got to hang with and our rockin' Basically Bare booth!

Let's get started....

First of all, we decided to make a 7ft corrugated cardboard dress form, dubbed "Basically Betty" that matched the Basically Bare dress form embellishment and covered it in papers and foil from Vintage Street Market.  VSM has paper that is 48" x 24" and was a life saver in this case.  This is the blank version and then me covering it in layers of VSM papers in our hotel room.  The completed dress form is the photos of the booth.

A few visitors came by the booth:

Angel, co-owner of Basically Bare with Tiare, Kim and Melissa from The Rubber Cafe.  Melissa stopped by so I can see the new stamps that I designed.  How exciting is that?  

Then we headed over to the Spellbinders booth to check out Melissa doing her awesome Make n' Take using her awesome glue and new stamps!!

Look at this hot mama!  She is a rockin' teacher!

Ok, now for the projects that were featured at the show.  I did a mixed media canvas for Scrapbook Adhesives using photo corners to make the flowers and other adhesives to make the different effects.  Sorry I did not get any close up photos! Arrggh.  I used an awesome alpha from Imaginarium Designs for the words:  Create. Inspire. Teach.

Then there is the Westcott Designer Display where we were shipped an assortment of cool duct tape, velcro and scissors in which we could use an additional three products to create whatever we wanted.  Hmmm....wonder what I was going to do.  
I used May Arts ribbon for the lace of the corset, the back has a velcro fastener, the entire corset is made from duck tape with a scissor holder built in.  I also used small gears from Imaginarium Designs and large heavy duty gears from Basically Bare.

There were 20 designers that were included in this display, here is a shot of the case I was in.  Check out the other cool projects that were made.

Last but certainly not least, the Dorothy Mannequin at the Graphic45 booth with her little ruby slippers.  She was quite a bit of work but I love how she turned out!  She also has the "No Place Like Home" album that I will be teaching in Australia in just a week and a half.

"No Place Like Home" Mixed Media Album

The first workshop is "No Place Like Home" a mixed media album that is perfect to document a family holiday or tradition.  We will be using Graphic45's brand new "Magic of Oz" paper collection along with products from Basically Bare, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, May Arts, Ranger, Imaginarium Designs, The Rubber Cafe and Flourish with a Bling!  This kit is to die for, it is jam packed with lots of wonderful elements that we will be layering throughout this book!

We will be going on a mixed media journey doing lots of layering, distressing and inking!

"Treasured Memories...The Past" Mixed Media Album Workshop

It is no secret that I love "Steampunk" and heritage inspired projects and our Treasured Memories...The Past is the perfect album for this.  Using the new "Funky Findings" mixed media album from Basically Bare!

We will be using Graphic45's  "Steampunk Debutante" paper collection along with products from Basically Bare, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, May Arts, Ranger, Imaginarium Designs, The Rubber Cafe, Flourish with a Bling and Vintage Street Market!  We will do some serious layering and inking in true steampunk style.

  We will have custom lettering that will go on the front that says "Treasured Memories" for the actual workshop.  I do not have them yet to show on the sample.  Please notate.

I cannot wait to meet all you wonderful crafters in Australia and very excited to share and inspire each of you!

CHA Class Sneak Peek and May Arts Love!

First of all, I am very excited about CHA in Rosemont, Illinois.  My class sold out quickly and I cant wait to share this project with all my students.  

We will be using a fun and funky mixed media album and embellishments from Basically Bare smothered in Graphic45's "Le Cirque" paper and Staple embellishments all held together with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3Ltm adhesive products! Then add some custom alphas all the way from Australia from Imaginarium Designs, luxurious ribbon from May Arts, fun tape from Vintage Street Market and wild buttons from Blumenthal Lansing and guess what you get?
