{a vintage girl} rubber stamps by Blank Page Muse

Did you know that I have beautiful deep etched red rubber stamps for {a vintage girl}?  What? You didn't know? Well, you need to check this out!   This window set is a personal favorite and was originally produced over 7 years ago.  Due to company issues, they were no longer manufactured, so last year I decided it was time to bring them back.  Blank Page Muse was kind enough to collaborate on this and some other great sets.

This is one of the most versatile window sets I have ever seen.  It comes with three windows and/or shutter combinations, they are made to work together.  You have the window, then two sets of shutters you can stamp, color, and cut out to make dimensional.  You know I am all about dimension!

Hello, my name is Candy Rosenberg, a.k.a. {a vintage girl}, I have been doing Vintage Steampunk for over ten years in the craft industry.  I am always trying to find a twist on it and love to make these 23" paper mache dress forms for home decor, workshops and more.   Let me show you the behind the scenes, no preset magazine quality styling here, just the raw process while at a large crop with other local ladies.  It seems to be when I can concentrate and not get interrupted so much.  

I got to work on this beauty using Graphic 45 papers, Beacon Adhesives, Prima Marketing, Inc. flowers, trims from Expo International, Fiskars punch, and {a vintage girl} chipboard pieces and wings.

First I created the bodice with Graphic 45 paper punched with Fiskars tag punch and attached starting at the bottom and working my way up layering them on top of each other.  Use the trims to outline the bodice/corset.

Fussy cut some leaves and butterflies from the paper to make the dimensional look randomly on the form.  Then add the beautiful trim from Expo International all the way around to finish up the look.  These amazing scissors are available at our shop www.AVintageGirlShop.com.

I used the {a vintage girl} fairy wings for this project.  The chipboard is sturdy and great quality and the cuts are made to keep it easy to get the pieces out.

Attach the wings to the back of the dress with Beacon Adhesives Fabri Tac.



Add the {a vintage girl} chipboard hardware pieces.

 

This is not a full tutorial as this is a 5 hour workshop, but I wanted to show you the basic process and behind the scenes on this project.

DCC Blog Hop: Decoupage with Diamond Art @ Leisure Arts

I wanted to share a project that was featured in January at the Creativation Show in Pheonix, Arizona.  This project was made with Leisure Arts Diamond Art product to show as a sample for the show.  When using Diamond Art it is very important to seal the project when you are done to keep all the diamonds in place.  As a Brand Ambassador for Beacon, my go-to product is Beacons Fast Finish Decoupage.  It is not like any other product of its kind, it's a liquid instead of a pasty/thicker texture allowing you to get in small areas, no brush marks, and even distribution.  For Diamond Art, this is perfect as it runs down into the crevices and seals the diamonds wonderfully.

This was a 24" x 12" canvas that I applied the finished Diamond Art Elephant and adhered to the painted canvas. I added some faux greenery to make it look like the elephant was coming out of the jungle.  Finishing touches included Prima Marketing, Inc. flowers, and an interesting piece of wood.

 

Pour the decoupage all over the Diamond Art piece and spread around with a brush, let dry.

A Vintage Girl Dress Form Album...How It Began.

The Dress Form Album has a special place in my heart as dress forms are my passion.  I created one years ago with a company that ended up stealing my design.  So years later, when I started to create the chipboard albums I shied away from this design initially.  I wanted to make sure it was mine and unique like all of our products, so it took a year for me to put the design together.  It was like being a momma having her new baby.
The album is comprised of six pages that include chipboard and corrugated sheets that are in the form of gears and a dress form laser cut edge.

Dollhouse Adventures: Making Hardwood Floors with Proxxon

 

Hello, my name is Candy Rosenberg.  I am known as "A Vintage Girl." I recently became a member of the Proxxon Tool Design Team, I got my table saw and sander last Thursday. I am new to the rabbit hole I call my new obsession, dollhouses, and miniatures.  I was wondering how I was possibly going to make tiny things without tiny tools, well that is where Proxxon comes in.  These tools are just as strong and durable as their larger counterparts and make a hobbyists work so much easier.  Here are the two tools that I received to share with you, the Table Saw EFT and Delta Sander.
I will be sharing my dollhouse adventures the second Saturday of each month, looking forward to throwing down some serious projects!

I am in the flooring stage of my dollhouse, a Colonial-style house that I purchased pre-built on the main structure.  The walls, stairs, windows, and doors were all in a bag.  This allows me to work on the walls and flooring before putting walls up.  I know I want hardwood floors pretty much throughout, so off to my Dollhouse Facebook Groups for some research.  Popsicle sticks and coffee stirrers were the answer.  So many different ways to do it, but you do have to cut off the rounded edges.  The Proxxon table saw is perfect for this task.

This is a quick 2-minute video showing you the actual cutting of the popsicle sticks to see how easy and fast it was to create the pieces for the floor.

DCC Blog Hop: Little Birdie Crafts Mixed Media Canvas

One of my best friends and business partner has been with her beau since she was 13 years old.  Recently,  I discovered this vintage photo of them when she was 14 amd not long after ran off got married and started having kids and still together this day, 55 years later. What a love story.  

Since her birthday was coming up I wanted to create something to put up in their home,  then a box of amazing goodies from Little Birdie Crafts showed up at my doorstep and I had the perfect idea! A mixed media canvas using stencils and modeling paste, laser cut chipboard pieces, flowers and color sprays. 

 

I started with a base of vintage patterns adhering it with decoupage.  Trimming the excess. 

Add the chipboard piece on one side.  Use your stencil and modeling paste to create texture on the other side.

Cover the entire surface with random squirts of color. Let dry. Pat any pool of liquid on the surface with a paper towel if needed. 

Add the white flower cluster to the right,  spray with color and pat with paper towel or use small paint brush and paint the flowers with the color spray.  Squirt the color in the center to give dimension. 

Add the naked chipboarf frame, first wrapping the bottom third in the twine.  Place foam squares underneath to give dimension and allow for room for the twine and picture. Add a punched sentiment like "love."

The final touch is adding twine to the back for hanging. Use something to wrap the twine to ensure it's an even hang.

Falling Down The Rabbit Hole...Made A Mini Suitcase for the "Hostel"

Turning A DollHouse Into A Vintage Inn!
I have very much fallen down the dollhouse rabbit hole.  I really needed something different to put my creative energy into but I have so much to learn and can be an expensive hobby so I am learning how to make my own furniture.  It is not easy but fun.  

I got this beautiful dollhouse that the main structure was completed, I painted the house, the roof shingles and put the roof together.  It came with all the walls, windows, doors, etc. and a bag of furniture on Facebook Marketplace. I was so thrilled because I have been waiting over 10 years for one of these. I want to create an "Inn or a Hostel" with lots of cool vintage, Steampunk rooms, bar, and fun spaces. 

 

Here is my initial attempt at making a mini suitcase for the travelers that are going to be visiting our Inn.

I am fortunate that I receive sample books from a local home decorator with the most amazing fabrics in it to use for curtains, furniture and such!  I use matchboxes for the box part which worked perfectly.

I am using Beacon Fabri Tac for adhering the fabric to the matchboxes.

 

 

I have all the fabric on but learned that it frays easily because it is pretty heavy for such a small project.

 I had the perfect punch to make the circles for the corner pieces.

I still need to add a handle and straps but I like how it worked out.
