Guest Design Project: Acrylic ATCs with Buttons Galore

I was asked to be a guest designer for Buttons Galore.  If you know me, you know I love, hoard and create with buttons from vintage to brand new, grungy to cute and colorful.  I love to show unique and unusual crafty ways to create with them.  So I got busy on making acrylic ATC's for this project. How fun it is to play with  acrylic cut to Artist Trading Card (ATC) size.

If you follow me on Facebook you will have read the story about my ONE LITTLE WORD.  I do not do resolutions for the New Year, I choose one little word to follow throughout the year.

This year is "LIVE" because with all that will be happening on all levels in my life in the upcoming year I really needed an entire dictionary to cover it all.  So I chose to just LIVE, to live each moment like its my last because honestly it could be.  So no regrets, learn to make time for myself, my family and friends.  Not let anyone in that does not belong in my tribe and allow them to destroy me, my family or my businesses like I have in the past.  I have worked hard to make many changes in the last four years.  And this will be the most poignant year yet.  

One thing I promised was to create more art this year.  And guess what....I AM!  Its not done, but wanted to share anyway!

This canvas has been sitting in my studio for almost a year.  It is just a bunch of items layered and heavily gesso'd but I put it aside and have not known what to do with itn since.  So I had some paints sitting on my desk wondering what to do and noticed the canvas leaning against the desk on the floor.

Supplies used: A Vintage Girl chipboard dress form, Canvas Corp: DIY Home Decor, Canvas, burlap. Indigoblu Acrylic Paint. Blumenthal Lansing buttons, Want2Scrap bling, Prima flowers, Mon Ami Gabby bling ribbon, dominoes and other chipboard.

Graphic45 and a Birdhouse....hmmm they go together right?

I could not resist using a wonderful birdhouse that my friend, Sherry Mendoza had given to me while driving through my neck of the woods before heading home to Australia. And the perfect paper is always Graphic45, so this was a natural fit for me.

This birdhouse stands about 16" tall and was a bit of a challenge with the holes and pegs but I made it work.

Look at all the yummy prima flowers!  I used several packages on this baby!

It was nice to have a crop night and get a few projects completed and hang out with a bunch of fun gals at the same time.  Thanks for the laughs ladies!

Here is a Prima Canvas that I had a ton of fun making. 

I first started with a blank canvas, used some Pistachio and Cream Eco Green Crafts paint to cover it.  Then I added a Prima vine and used the packaging as the vertical paper in the background.

 

 

I added cut squares using my new grid template from Lea France, handcut butterflies from Prima paper, plus corrugated cardboard butterflies from Jillibean Soup. I used small cut strips of the paper and adhered them to the edges of the photos.  (This is a great way to save on paper)

I added a stamped verse from Catslife Press, added it to the canvas and on paper butterflies.

 

Some of the paper butterflies are floating off of the canvas.

 
I painted the corrugated butterfly as well.
