The Tennis Shoe Story...

I started this post on January 4th, and I could not get the photos to upload for nothing in the world.  I was baffled, but alas....I got it uploaded and ready to share this story with you.

For those that know me, know that I DO NOT WEAR TENNIS SHOES!  I bought a pair of black tennis shoes recently and posted about it on facebook.  I wear either boots (they have their own closet I have so many) or flip flops, depending on the weather, lol.

Now honestly, it has been over 5 years since I have had a pair that I can remember and those had a touch of bling on the front.  But when I got these babies home, there was something missing.  It is hard enough to just wear these kind of shoes period, but they definitely needed my signature in order for me to go out IN THE PUBLIC!

This is how they looked when I got them...and I put out a plea on my facebook to help as I could not possibly go out in public WITHOUT blinging them up! My beautiful friend, Michele Parrish, the BLING QUEEN from Want 2 Scrap saw my pleas and came to my rescue!  Thank You!!

If you follow me on Facebook you will have read the story about my ONE LITTLE WORD.  I do not do resolutions for the New Year, I choose one little word to follow throughout the year.

This year is "LIVE" because with all that will be happening on all levels in my life in the upcoming year I really needed an entire dictionary to cover it all.  So I chose to just LIVE, to live each moment like its my last because honestly it could be.  So no regrets, learn to make time for myself, my family and friends.  Not let anyone in that does not belong in my tribe and allow them to destroy me, my family or my businesses like I have in the past.  I have worked hard to make many changes in the last four years.  And this will be the most poignant year yet.  

One thing I promised was to create more art this year.  And guess what....I AM!  Its not done, but wanted to share anyway!

This canvas has been sitting in my studio for almost a year.  It is just a bunch of items layered and heavily gesso'd but I put it aside and have not known what to do with itn since.  So I had some paints sitting on my desk wondering what to do and noticed the canvas leaning against the desk on the floor.

Supplies used: A Vintage Girl chipboard dress form, Canvas Corp: DIY Home Decor, Canvas, burlap. Indigoblu Acrylic Paint. Blumenthal Lansing buttons, Want2Scrap bling, Prima flowers, Mon Ami Gabby bling ribbon, dominoes and other chipboard.

A Pretty Dress Form.....Fit For A Princess Party.

 

If you know me, you know my obsession with dress forms.  It was so nice to etch out some time to not only create one but to play with Graphic 45 and Canvas Corp in my almost finished craft room.

 
It is quite a process and was made over a few days here and there.  Check out how it progressed and a little burlap trick to boot.

I start with what I call an old school technique because I have been doing it for so many years.  You cut strips in the paper to almost the edge, then twist the paper around the end of paint brush to create the curls.

 

 

I had started this dress form with other paper but found the Botanical Tea collection at my local craft store and couldnt resist!

To create the burlap band, I used  a piece cut from Canvas Corp Brands Burlap Sheet in Pink.  I cut a 1.5 inch strip, used Beacon Adhesives Fabri Tac and ran adhesive down the center and folded the ends in.  I held it down until it stuck on its own.

A Craft Resin Filled Window- ICE Resin

What a journey an art journal can be.  Where do you start, how do you keep going through it.  With each page I try to implement a new technique..as this journal has an underlying windows theme I grabbed for my chipboard window that can be found at Want2Scrap.com.  And as I was playing with it on the page, I was thinking how cool it would be if I could make it look like a real window.  

Well that was an epic moment of.....DUH!!!  ICE Resin of course!  Yes, I actually chuckled at myself and have wrestled with the thought of even admitting to it...

The result was stunningly clear....

I had to make a few of them, they are hard to resist...

ICE Resin and Walnut Hollow Blog Hop

ICE Resin and Walnut Hollow CREATIVITY!

We are hopping with Walnut Hollow Blog Hop and having a great time.  I received some fun items to play with from Walnut Hollow and had a blast making this resinated Steampunk wall hanging with ICE Resin covered chipboard and frame, faux finished wood frame and some fun watch parts!!

Supply List:

ICE Resin
Industrial Chic Pendant
Walnut Hollow: Wood Frame
Gears: Candy Rosenberg Designs, Chipboard
May Arts Ribbon
Tattered Angels: Faux Paint System, Antique Hickory
Other: clock parts, vintage newspapers

 

Prepare your Walnut Hollow wood surface with Tattered Angels faux finish paint system.  Place your chipboard pieces on a plastic ziploc bag and cover with ICE Resin.

Gather a couple pieces of old newspaper or dictionary pages and place on a plastic ziploc bag and cover with ICE Resin leaving a thin layer and allow all pieces to dry overnight.  Carefully lift the pieces from the bag and trim the excess resin.

When adhering the gears, I slipped a little piece of May Arts gold ribbon underneath to give it a little more texture.

 

To fill in the wood frame opening, place a ziploc bag  under the frame, pour resin to fill only the bottom with just a 1/4 inch thick of resin.  Place a heavy object on the top of the frame to push the weight down to prevent as much of the resin from leaking as possible.  Do this before you add any other pieces to the top of the frame.

Wait an hour, then go back in and randomly drop the watch parts in the resin.  Place the heavy item on top again and let sit overnight.

Adhere all the pieces to the front of the frame, add some wording of your choice.  I used Steampunk.

To finish it off add some Industrial Chic pieces to give it the final flair!

This was a fun piece to make...there are no limits!  Be Inspired! Always!

A VISION has become a reality....Printers Tray Album!

Dreams really do come true....

I am extremely fortunate to have spent time with Michele Parrish of Want2Scrap.com over the years through Scrap n' Art online magazine, show room floors and just designing in the industry in general.  She even admitted to me that she "followed" me through the years and my designs (which brought a tear to my eye) so when I got the chance to create some product for her company, I was gobsmacked to say the least.

We have now created a few albums and embellishments with more on the drawing table, however, I wanted to announce our newest album that I simply adore and makes me jump up and down!!!

I have to admit that this one is my most favorite.  I am vintage girl through and through, old items speak to me and draw me in.  I have a special love for printers trays.  These come from old printers cabinets in the day when things were printed with old wood and metal letter blocks.  There is so many ways to create with this album:

What better paper to use then Graphic 45's Typography Collection to create a vintage tray.

Graphic45 Design Team 2013 Audition

I have been waiting for this design team call for a couple of years..... its time to throw my hat back into the ring!  I feel like I have been off to college and ready to come home...lol!
